Fivestar Fight League took some much needed time off, but will be back in action and in front of their hometown crowd of Fort St. John on April 22, 2016 for Fivestar FL 17: Relentless.
Fivestar Fight League returns to Fort St. John on April 22
Fivestar has the cream of the crop amongst their stable and many of those fighters will return to the blue and black cage in a few months time. Those fighters include welterweight champion Duncan Wilson, Dylan Lielke, Jamie Herrington, Travis Lussier and more.
Wilson (7-4) will put his strap on the line in the evening’s main event against a yet to be determined opponent. “The Heartbreak Kid” is 2-0 at welterweight and has successfully defended his belt once against Aaron Shymr at Fivestar Fight League 14 in April of last year. Wilson was expected to fight againstĀ Alderic Keith at Elite 1 MMA: Unleashed on January 30, however he has been forced out due to injury.
Lielke (10-1) is the current amateur featherweight champion and a quarter-finalist at last year’s IMMAF World Championships. Other than his amateur debut and the IMMAF bouts, all of Leilke’s bouts have come under the Fivestar banner.
Herrington (7-0) will look to continue on her winning ways. Much like her teammate Lielke, Herrington was also a member of Team Canada at the IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas, but she claimed gold. Finishing two of her three opponents, including a third round TKO to earn the crown of IMMAF World Champion.
Lussier (4-1) last fought in October, when he was tapped out by Dillan Main at Fivestar FL 16 for the vacant amateur championship. Prior to that bout, Lussier tested his skills in the Lower Mainland in front of the Battlefield Fight League crowd, where he earned a unanimous decision against an always dangerous James Foster.
Keep an eye out for match-ups as they begin to be announced.
Fivestar Fight League 17: Relentless goes down on April 22, 2016 from the Fort St. John Curling Rink in Fort St. John, British Columbia.
