At UFC 196, ‘Looking for a Fight’ prospect Mickey Gall will take on fellow newcomer Michael Jackson. With a victory that evening, Gall will be the man staking claim to challenge former WWE superstar CM Punk.
The news came on Wednesday from UFC President Dana White on TSN in Canada.
“I’m bringing Mickey Gall in and he’s gonna fight a kid named Michael Jackson, they’re going to fight on the prelims on Feb. 6 on Fight Pass and if he wins that fight, Mickey Gall will fight CM Punk and CM Punk will be there at the fight to watch,” White revealed.
Gall (1-0) won his first professional bout in front of White at Dead Serious MMA 17 in Philadelphia when he tapped out Ron Templeton in the first round. The undefeated prospect trains with the Miller Brothers.
“He’s holding a lottery ticket with really good odds of winning the lottery right now,” White said. “He’s got to get through this fight and yeah, it’s going to be a life changer for this kid.”
According to White, the Punk fight is only available to Gall. If Jackson were to win he will get his first UFC victory, however he will not get a chance to fight the former WWE champion.
