UFC officials have broken the news that two veterans of the welterweight division will meet when Demian Maia takes on Matt Brown from Brazil at UFC Fight Night in May.
Demian Maia vs Matt Brown announced for UFC Fight Night in Brazil
Demian Maia returns to Brazil and is looking to extend his four fight winning streak after picking up a unanimous decision win over Gunnar Nelson last December at UFC 194. The Brazilian has been hoping for his title shot since the start of 2015 and now has a tough test in the form of Matt Brown in front of him.
After nearly gaining a welterweight title shot back in July of 2014, Brown’s dream fell short after dropping consecutive losses to top contenders Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks. However, ‘The Immortal’ got back into the win column after defeating Tim Means at UFC 189.
The two veterans are now set to clash in Brazil and both men are looking to get back into the title picture with impressive wins. UFC Fight Night 87 is set for Brazil- with an actual venue not yet named. The action is set for May 14th with the main card expected for Fox Sports 1.
