Former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar will return from retirement at UFC 200 against a yet to be determined opponent.
UFC officials announced the return of Lesnar during the UFC 199 broadcast.
Lesnar (5-3) ended his UFC career in 2011 after riding a two-fight losing skid. He won the heavyweight championship at UFC 91 against Randy Couture and went on to defend it twice, against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.
The former WWE Champion lost his title to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 in 2010 and went on to lose his final fight in the Octagon against Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.
There has been much speculation of a Lesnar return, but his WWE career took precedence up until this point.
The WWE commented on the signing, “Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”
UFC 200 takes place on July 9 from the all new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.
