Cage Titans 40 weigh-ins are live from Pinz in Kingston, Massachusetts. Only one day remains until the highly anticipated CTFC 40 event. The card features five title fights, four amateur and one professional. In the amateur ranks, the flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight titles are on the line.
The current champions defending include flyweight title holder and highly ranked prospect, Mitch Raposo, lightweight champion, Chris O’Brien, and welterweight champion, Trevor Gudde. In the one professional title bout, Johnny Campbell defends his bantamweight title against top-ranked contender, Jay Perrin.
The Night of Five Title Fights
The night’s first championship bout pits Aaron Hughes of Regiment Training Center against Kenny Champion of Golden Falcon. They are set to fight over the vacant 145 lb. title. Hughes rides an incredible three-fight win streak into the title bout. Even more incredible is his story. The Fall River fighter began his amateur career 0-3. After fighting through frustration, Hughes took a couple short notice fights and found himself on the end of a few impressive stoppages.
Kenny Champion comes into the matchup after earning a unanimous decision victory at Premier FC 25. Champion is 0-1 under the Cage Titans banner but his last outing impressed promotion officials enough to grant him a shot at the vacant title.
Aaron Hughes teammate, Mitch Raposo defends his title against a familiar opponent, William Graustuck. Graustuck and Raposo fought once before. The two first met at Cage Titans 37, where Raposo dominated Graustuck over the course of three rounds. Since defeating Graustuck, Raposo went on to earn the promotions vacant flyweight belt. Graustuck hasn’t since fought.
The third amateur title fight is one of the most anticipated fights of the night. Chris O’Brien takes on Reality Fighting amateur lightweight champion, Matt Bienia. This matchup represents two of the best amateur lightweights in the New England region. O’Brien rides an undefeated record of 4-0, into his first title defense. Bienia himself holds an impressive record of 5-1, each win by stoppage.
Trevor Gudde vs. Neil von Flatern represents the final amateur title fight of the night. Gudde also defends his title for the first time when he takes on Matt Bienia Zenquest Teammate, Neil von Flatern. Gudde first earned the title when he defeated Marty Navis by unanimous decision at CTFC 38.
