An exhilarated Marty Navis spoke following a dominant performance in his much-anticipated pro debut.

Cage Titans 41 Post-Fight Interview: Marty Navis

Navis defeated Montoyia Swilling in the opening round of their main card contest. From the opening bell, Navis controlled the action, getting an early takedown. Once on top, there was no getting up for Swilling as Navis suffocated him with heavy barrages of punches. With 6 seconds remaining in the opening round, the referee granted Navis the stoppage. Overall, Navis was pleased with his performance.

“I feel great, everything is over now and I got the win. It just makes my life complete, I love doing this, I love getting in there, I am a competitor man. I love getting in there and seeing who the better man is. I love it, I just love the feeling.”

Lauzon MMA

Marty Navis is another highly-skilled fighter coming out of the storied, Lauzon MMA. After Saturday night, Navis joined a long list of talented fighters from the respected gym. A list that includes fighters such as Rob Font, Calvin Kattar, Randy Costa and Mike Rodriguez as well as many others in the area cross-training also at the UFC level.

Professional Debut

The transition from amateur to pro seemed lost-less. As an amateur, Navis fought the toughest competition in and around his weight class. That should not necessarily change for the Boston fighter. While his opponent at Cage Titans 41, Montoyia Swilling, hasn’t recorded a win as a professional, he does hold serious striking skill.

“We had a game plan and did it exactly the way you want to do it. [I] came out and just wanted to take it right to the ground. We thought we had the advantage and we had more than an advantage when we went to the ground. He couldn’t even really get me off him at all. I transitioned good, ended up getting his back and flattening him out. It was a wrap from, he wasn’t getting up.”

As far as what is next for Navis, he plans to stay active in the gym and cage.
