David Rickels (19-5 MMA) is making his return to the Octagon at Bellator 210 this Friday, November 30th at the WinStar World Casino and Resort, in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

He is scheduled to take on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Guilherme Vasconcelos (10-4 MMA) in the co-main event. This can be a rebound after his staggering defeat to the hands of Michael “Venom” Page back in May at Bellator 200. One minute into the second, he suffered a nasty cut above the eyebrow that led to him to verbally submit.

“A lot of people don’t realize, when he dropped me, I got up, but I was still out” Rickels began to explain to MMASucka. “I wasn’t even awake. Just wasn’t there. I don’t even remember sitting in my corner. When I got hit by the shot that cut me, that’s actually when I woke up” He continued. It definitely wasn’t the awakening he had wanted.

“I remember thinking Oh F*** – What is going on?!”

David Rickels, after getting hit and busted open, realized that this fight was not going his way. In many people’s eyes, he chose to lose before the match was decided. However, it makes sense when you look at how the fight started that the end wasn’t going to be favorable for “The Caveman”.

After the loss, David explained how Page completely changed his arrogant attitude. “Backstage after the fight, Michael came to me. He shook my hand and explained how hard he had prepared for this fight. The reason he does all of that dancing-stuff in the ring is to get fighters mad. I can tell you – when I was in there, all I wanted to do was hit him. I wanted to hit him hard”

Since the loss, Rickels has been training hard and looks to get back into the win column with a victory over Guilherme. “It’s a tough fight. But we’re talking about finding the sweet spot in training – I feel like it’s there. We’re going to find out when I go scrap. I found a really good sweet spot in between sparring, jiu-jitsu and overall improvement”

David Rickels Takes on Guilherme Bomba at Bellator 210

Guilherme is looking to make it 2 in a row as he returns to the Bellator Octagon. Back in January, Bomba took out Ivan Castillo with a first-round Arm Triangle Choke submission. The ground game will certainly be the center of attention for “The Caveman”. However, David feels with his new found goal of ‘balance’ in his camp, he can handle anything.
