MMASucka staff picks have just a few remaining events left thus far in 2018. This weekend, three cards will be counted towards our year’s records. A Bellator double-header takes place, the final two Bellator cards of the year, along with a UFC on FOX card on Saturday night. Both Bellator cards will be making their first two promotional appearances in Hawaii.
Bellator 212
The first of our two Bellator cards this weekend takes place later tonight, December 14th, from the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu. In the main event, Michael Chandler looks to take back his lightweight strap against current undefeated champion Brent Primus. Chandler suffered an ankle injury in his first fight with Primus back in June of last year, but has earned two fights since including a decision over Goiti Yamauchi and a first-round submission over Brandon Girtz. Primus has yet to defend his title since grabbing the title, now in search of his first defense at the top of the division. The co-main event sees former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir set to battle against nine-fight Bellator veteran Javy Ayala.
Bellator 213
The second Bellator card of the week will take place tomorrow, December 14th, in the same location. Current flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane will look to come out victorious in front of her hometown crowd when she battles Montreal’s Valerie Letourneau in the main event. Macfarlane is still undefeated in her professional career, holding five victories by submission including three-straight by armbar. Her opponent, Letourneau, has earned back-to-back victories since moving from the UFC to Bellator seeing decisions over Kate Jackson and Kristina Williams. The co-main will feature former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida face off against former Bellator middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho.
The WINNER of staff picks will have a chance to receive a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts following completion of the 2018 calendar year! The 2017 winner was awarded to Wesley Riddle, compiling a record of 118-74 for main card fights. Staff picks compose of both Bellator and UFC fights taken place on the main card.
