The CES organization announced its venue for the upcoming CES 55. CES 55 takes place on March 29th from the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Branching Outward
In the past year, CES branched out into neighboring regions. First, they brought the CES cage to New York state for CES NY 1 in May of 2018. Their New York card featured John Gotti III, Reginaldo Fenix, and Matt Secor. Next, they traveled to Philadelphia for CES 52. There, Jason Norwood and Jeremiah Wells headlined the card in a battle for the vacant welterweight title. Wells earned the title by way of unanimous decision.
This new venue for CES comes in a different vein. A scheduling conflict between the CES hub venue, (Twin River Resort and Casino) and the organization forced them out of Lincoln, Rhode Island. Rumors spread abundantly claiming the organization targeted Plymouth, Massachusetts as a potential venue. Sources confirmed to MMASucka that talks to move CES to Plymouth, Massachusetts never materialized into negotiations.
New Sanctioning Body
With this new venue, comes a new sanctioning body. Now that the promotion operates outside of Twin River Casino and its sanctioning body they are now under the jurisdiction of the state of Connecticut. CES 55 will become the first MMA event sanctioned by the state of Connecticut. Despite many events taking place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, those events fall under the jurisdiction of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation.
Fighters expected to compete on the upcoming event include William Knight, Jeremiah Wells, Fabio Cherant, and UFC vet, Matt Bessette.
