Bellator 219 Staff Picks

The Fights

Though there are no title fights at Bellator 219, there are multiple former champions and action-packed match-ups. The card’s main event is a lightweight showdown between Saad Awad and the always-fun Brandon Girtz. Girtz is fighting for the first time in almost a year after undergoing shoulder surgery, while Awad is looking to rebound from an October loss to Benson Henderson.

Elsewhere on the card, fan favorite Daniel Straus will be making his return to action following a motorcycle accident. The former featherweight champion will be taking on Shane Kruchten in a lightweight bout. Another former champion, Andrey Koreshkov, will be taking on Mike Jasper in a welterweight fight. Kicking off the main card is a middleweight fight between Joe Schilling and Keith Berry.

Staff Picks

Throughout the year, staff picks will be composed of four different MMA promotions: UFCBellatorONE, and RIZIN. Main cards will make up both UFC and Bellator picks, while the biggest fights to make up ONE and RIZIN events will be used. The WINNER of staff picks will have a choice between receiving a championship belt from ProAmBelts or a championship chain from Championship Chains. The 2018 winner was awarded to Michael DeSantis, compiling a record of 202-101.
