MMASucka staff picks are in for tonight’s UFC Fight Night 158 taking place from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The six-fight main card will begin live at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT) on ESPN+.
The Fights
A thrilling main event is in store between top-ranked lightweights Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje. Both of these action fighters are guaranteed to deliver violence everytime they step into the cage. This fight has potential title implications for both guys involved. Cerrone is looking to bounce back from a loss to top contender Tony Ferguson. A win over Gaethje, one of the division’s best, will insert Cerrone right back into the top of the rankings. Gaethje, on the other hand, is looking to build on his two fight win streak. In his last two fights, he laid waste to James Vick and Edson Barboza in the first round. Widely considered one of the division’s elite, a win over Cerrone could potentially line him up for a title shot in the near future.
The rest of the main card is full of action, too. In the co main event, light heavyweight veteran Glover Texeira takes on Nikita Krylov, who has never had a fight go to decision in his career. Todd Duffee makes his return to action in a heavyweight matchup with Jeff Hughes. Exciting knockout artist Uriah Hall looks to hand grappling specialist Antonio Carlos Junior his second loss in as many fights. Fan favorite lunatic Michel Periera (who missed weight) takes on British Columbia native Tristan Connelly, who took the fight on short notice. Opening the main card is a very intriguing light heavyweight matchup between Misha Cirkunov and one of the top prospects in the division, the Australian Jimmy Crute.
Staff Picks
Throughout the year, staff picks will be composed of four different MMA promotions: UFC, Bellator, ONE, and RIZIN. Main cards will make up both UFC and Bellator picks, while the biggest fights to make up ONE and RIZIN events will be used. The WINNER of staff picks will have a choice between receiving a championship belt from ProAmBelts or a championship chain from Championship Chains. The 2018 winner was awarded to Michael DeSantis, compiling a record of 202-101.
