KSW is inching closer toward their first show of the year with KSW 53: Fight Code set for Saturday March 21, 2019. The event will be shown on the DAZN app or through KSW’s own platform of KSWtv. With a few of the preliminary matches already announced, KSW has recently announced a big matchup with former middleweight champion Michal Materla welcoming newcomer and ACB veteran Patrik Kincl.

Two European Veterans Set to Clash at KSW 53

Former KSW champion Michal Materla (27-7) returns to the cage after his third round loss to Scott Askham in the finals of the tournament to crown a new middleweight champion at KSW 49 in May 2019. Materla is a staple of the organization, competing with KSW since KSW 6 in 2006. He became the middleweight champion at KSW 19 and successfully defended the title for times. Since 2015 Materla has earned a record of 6-3 with two of those losses to Askham and one to KSW legend Mamed Khalidov. With any shot of a third chance at Askham, Materla needs an emphatic win.

The Highly Anticipated Arrival of the Czech Striker

Patrik Kincl (22-9) is new to KSW but hardly new to tough European competition. With 16 of his 22 victories coming by way of finish. The Czech striker has won nine of his last 10 bouts and looks to enter the KSW middleweight division at the age of 30 gunning for gold. Kincl was originally slated to make his KSW debut back at KSW 50 to challenge welterweight champion Roberto Soldic in an title matchup. Kincl had to pull out of the bout due to an elbow injury. With a missed title shot in the rear view mirror, a big win against a name like Materla could see Kincl catapulted to the top of the challenger list for Askham.
