Copa Podio is heading to America for the first time. That’s right, the popular grappling promotion from Brazil is heading to Vacaville, California for Copa Podio California on March 8th. A couple UFC veterans are set to face each other as Urijah Faber will meet Dustin Ortiz in the main event.

Faber is coming off a loss at UFC 245 where he was knocked out by Petr Yan. He is a jiu jitsu black belt with 17 submission victories in his MMA career. Ortiz last fought in January of 2019 where he was defeated by Joseph Benavidez. He has more of a wrestling back ground but he isn’t afraid to hunt for submissions as he has 4 wins by tap out in his MMA career.

The co-main event at Copa Podio California will feature another pair of MMA fighters. UFC veterans Danny Castillo and Carlos Rocha will face each other in a no-gi super fight.

Also on the card will be two Grand Prix style tournaments. The preliminary card will have a “California Grand Prix” featuring some of the top blackbelts from California. The main card will put on a “Lightweight Grand Prix” featuring names like Jeremy Jackson, Guthierry Barbosa and Leonardo Silva.

Copa Podio California PPV can be purchased on Fite TV.
