Buckle up grappling fans we finally have some action! Thats right Submission Underground is back to bring SUG 12 on March 29th, live from an empty unknown location in Portland, Oregon.
Since Coronavirus (COVID-19) has basically shut down every sports league or promotion in the world it is shocking that SUG 12 is still on. But promoter Chael Sonnen has said it from the start, the show must go on.
The show will be headlined by SUG veteran Craig Jones taking ono former UFC fighter Kevin Casey. Both are great jiu-jitsu blackbelts but Casey will need to keep an eye on the lethal leg locks from Jones. The co-main will feature a UFC welterweight in Jake Ellenberger taking on Oregon local Ben Egli.
Carlos Condit was originally supposed to take on Ellenberger but he pulled out due to the risk of CODVID-19. The same goes for another fight on the main card that has been cancelled. Roxanne Modafferi was scheduled to grapple with Amanda Loewen but Modafferi announced on her instagram earlier in the week explaining why she won’t be competing.
