DWCS 2020 Week 10 Breakdown
Chelsea Hackett vs. Victoria Leonardo
Most of the pressure is on Hackett. Why? Mainly because the Australian prospect is undefeated. Even though it’s early on in her career, her activity will be a key to victory. In contrast, Leonardo will need to utilize her experience and ring generalship to secure the win. While Leonardo has struggled with long-standing win streaks, her resolve to bounce back is impressive. Now, both are in the most intense job interview of their lifetime, as the reward for impressing UFC president Dana White goes a long way.
Prediction: Hackett wins via unanimous decision
Tucker Lutz vs. Sherrard Blackledge
Yet another undefeated fighter makes their walk on DWCS 2020 week ten, as Blackledge looks to stop Lutz in his tracks. However, this won’t be an easy task because Lutz is no pushover. Supporting his chances of success, Lutz hasn’t lost a fight since his professional debut. After winning his first appearance on DWCS 2020, White decided to pass on signing the young prospect, Blackledge. Now, the undefeated, Syndicate MMA fighter gets another opportunity to compete in the premier league.
Prediction: Lutz wins via TKO – Round 1
Pauline Macius vs. Gloria de Paula
Initially scheduled to take place on DWCS 2020 week 9, a positive Covid-19 test for Paula pushed the bout back to week 10. Joining the group of undefeated fighters, Macius looks to advance to 5-0 and earn a UFC contract. Even though Paula has alternated wins and losses for much of her career, she has clear power in her strikes. Now Macius’s path to victory lies in her impressive judo skills. Overall Paula has an uphill battle taking on the streaking Macius, if she is able to avoid Macius’s Judo throws, Paula has a solid path to victory.
Prediction: Macius wins via unanimous decision
JP Buys vs. Jacob Silva
A flyweight banger is on deck when Buys looks to knock off Silva in the co main event. Fighting out of South Africa, Buys rides a 4-fight win streak, and formerly competed in LFA. Granted that Buys’s wrestling ability can carry him in this bout, Silva is a savage always looking for the finish. For instance, in Silva’s last seven bouts, six of them ended by finish via strikes. Recently, the Brazilian lost via decision on the DWCS 2020, but will be given another chance to secure a contract on week 10.
Prediction: Silva wins via TKO – Round 1
Nick Maximov vs. Oscar Cota
The fight we have all been waiting for –the big boys. Finally, the undefeated Maximov goes against Cota in the main event of the evening. Consequently, Maximov is an amazing grappler. After all, the American trains at the Nick Diaz Academy. He last competed at LFA and won via rear-naked choke. While Cota has lost by submission before, his defense will need to be on point against a foe like Maximov. Since the bout is at heavyweight, implementing effective Ju-Jitsu can be very difficult. We don’t see it often, except from legends like Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem time to time. Ultimately, Maximov’s undefeated record will be tested when he competes in one of his first bad stylistic match up.
Prediction: Maximov wins via Rear Naked Choke – Round 2
