DWCS Week 10 brings a lot of familiar faces. Both Sherrard Blackledge and Tucker Lutz won their fights on the contender series earlier this year. Instead of giving them contracts, Dana White gave them another opportunity. Now they will get a chance to fight each other and prove to Dana White who really deserves a contract.

The card will also feature DWCS alum JP Buys. He will be taking on former Fury FC flyweight champion Jacob Silva in the main event. Also on the card is Chelsea Hackett taking on Victoria Leonardo in a flyweight bout and Pauline Macias fighting Gloria de Paula in a strawweight bout. Hackett is looked at as one of the most promising prospects in women’s MMA right now. She has a tough fight ahead of her as she takes on Invicta and Bellator veteran Leonardo.

DWCS Week 10 will be co-headlined by Nick Maximov taking on Oscar Cota in a heavyweight bout. Maximov, training partner of Nate Diaz, normally fights at light heavyweight. He weighed in for this fight around 209 lbs. His opponent, Oscar Cota is a natural heavyweight, weighing in for this fight around 263 lbs. Maximov is currently undefeated sitting at 5-0. with all five of his wins coming by way of finish.

DWCS Week 10 Results

JP Buys def. Jacob Silva via submission (guillotine choke) in the first round.

The ending of this fight was extremely controversial. As Silva protested the stoppage immediately after Mark Goddard stopped the fight. Silva never tapped to the choke but for some reason the fight was stopped.
Prior to the controversy it was a pretty dominate wrestling performance from Buys.

Nick Maximov def. Oscar Cota via unanimous decision (30-26 x2, 29-28)

The first round was pretty close. The second and the third rounds were both dominated by Maximov’s grappling and ground and pound.

Gloria de Paula def. Pauline Macias via unanimous decision (30-26 x2, 30-27)

Macias landed a beautiful judo throw in the first round but Gloria de Paula dominated the rest of the fight. The third round got bad as de Paulo did a lot of damage on the feet later in the round.

Tucker Lutz def. Sherrard Blackledge via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

In the first round it was a back and forth fight. With Blackledge landing some good shots standing, and Lutz landing some takedowns and controlling the grappling. Lutz was able to dominate the grappling in the second and third round which won him the decision.

Victoria Leonardo def. Chelsea Hackett via TKO in the second round.

Hackett started quickly landing a verity of kicks. Hackett was the faster fighter and was landing good strikes in the first round. Leonardo displayed her grappling late into the first round.

The second round was highlighted by Hackett hurting Leonardo and rushing in to finish the fight. Leonardo was able to land a takedown and land some powerful shots from the mount to eventually end the fight.

Bonuses

Victoria Leonardo, Tucker Lutz, Gloria de Paula and JP Buys were all given contracts.

Maximov was transported to the hospital after his fight. Dana White did not sign him but he did offer him a spot on The Ultimate Fighter.

My name is Michael Lynch. I’m originally from Long Island, NY, but I reside in Columbia, Sc. I’ve been covering MMA for almost two years now. I’ve covered events such as Island fights and the PFL. I also have a YouTube channel where I do fight companions and UFC fight previews. I have recently started to train in mma and would like to have my first fight in 2020. I believe that as a journalist I need to experience what these fighters go threw, in order to understand their POV.
