The bout between Drakkar Klose and Luis Pena has been cancelled at the last minute because of COVID concerns. According to Pena’s Twitter, one of Klose’s cornermen tested positive for the coronavirus and the bout was cancelled. This marks the fourth fight for UFC Vegas 19 that has been cancelled, as well as the second cancellation for Klose, who was initially booked to fight Jai Herbert. Pena expressed regret that the bout had been cancelled, along with publically stating that he hoped that Klose and his team remain safe.
Drakkar Klose and Luis Pena Fight Cancelled
Klose was on a three fight win streak until 2020. However it was snapped by a knockout loss to lightweight standout Beneil Dariush, the reaction to which went viral. Pena entered the UFC after a stint on The Ultimate Fighter 27, and comes off of a submission loss to Khama “The Deathstar” Worthy.

UFC Vegas 19 has been struck by an unusual series of events. In particular, this event featured four separate weight losses, one of which led to the cancellation of a bout as featherweight Rafael Alves weighed in over 11 lbs over the featherweight non-title limit. This set a record by the most a fighter has ever missed weight by in the UFC. Alves’s original opponent, Mike Trizano, had previously been forced to cancel after an ankle injury. Therefore despite a series of mishaps, the card goes forward with only a net loss of two fights.
