Darren Till out of match against Marvin Vettori, Kevin Holland verbally agrees to step in

Darren Till has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming middleweight clash against Marvin Vettori on April 10th after suffering a collar bone injury, per sources. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Darren Till vs. Marvin Vettori Off

Vettori responds

Vettori responded to the news with much displeasure alluding that he always shows up “100%” but his opponents do not. This is not the first time an opponent has pulled out against the Italian fighter on short notice. Back in 2020, Karl Robertson pulled out of his bout against Vettori after a harrowing a weight cut and was advised to withdraw, much to Vettori’s frustration. This resulted in a hotel lobby altercation where “The Italian Dream” exploded in an expletive rant.

Vettori has called for someone to “show the f*ck up” to fight against him in two weeks after Till’s injury.

“Always do my part 100% and these bunch of p*ssies can’t make it,” Vettori wrote on Twitter. “I’m next in line for the title, whoever has something to say show the f*ck up in two weeks so I can whoop your ass and shut you off for good.”

Kevin Holland to the rescue?

Sources report that fan-favourite Kevin Holland has accepted to fight on short notice but at this current time nothing is confirmed. Holland recently fought in a 5-round unanimous decision loss to Derek Brunson which halted Holland’s incredible momentum he had built up in 2020 with his 5 consecutive wins.

“I already accepted the fight an hour ago” wrote Holland on Twitter.

Vettori responded saying “Let’s go” eager to fight anyone that would step in for April. The Italian is coming off an impressive decision win against Jack Hermansson in December last year. With the win against Hermansson, Vettori put the whole middleweight division on notice after putting on a performance sending a strong statement that “The Italian Dream” was coming for the championship belt.

Currently riding a four-fight winning streak, Vettori will be looking to continue his streak on his quest for UFC gold. His last loss came in April 2018 against current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanyaa loss the Italian would want to correct in the future.

Darren “Destroyed” Till puts out a statement

Darren Till has put out a statement via Instagram regarding his withdrawal from the bout.

“To say I’m f*cking destroyed by it is an understatement,” said Till. It is clear the Liverpool native is devastated by the injury suffered. Till alluded to the fact that he broke his collarbone whilst training and has apologised to Vettori for pulling out of their bout.
