ONE Championship has set the semifinals of the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix for Friday, October 29, at ONE: NextGen and they will lead into the ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Title main event.
ONE: NextGen Fight Card Announced
Roman Kryklia is back to defend his crown against Murat “The Butcher” Argun.
The two strikers were originally scheduled to meet last December, but Kryklia was pulled due to COVID-19 protocols. Now, nearly a year later, the two light heavyweights are finally going to step inside the Circle to compete.
The previously announced semifinals of the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix will help bolster the card with grapplers Ritu Phogat and Itsuki Hirata going one-on-one before Stamp Fairtex meets Julie Mezabarba in the following semifinal.
Mezabarba replaces an injured Seo Hee Ham and earned her shot with a dominating performance against Mei Yamaguchi in the alternate bout at ONE: Empower.
Before the premier bouts, three additional bouts will help set the stage.
Undefeated heavyweight bruisers Kirill Grishenko and Dustin Joynson will attempt to make their case for contendership when they collide. Making his organizational debut, the Canadian has finished four of his six opponents en route to ONE’s global stage.
Grishenko made headlines by knocking off “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane earlier this year, and the victory thrust him into the mix in the heavyweight division. A win over Joynson would help solidify his position as a top contender.
China’s Miao Li Tao and Filipino Jeremy Miado will run their 2019 meeting back. Miado finished the first meeting with a flying knee KO but is seeking to prove the finish was not a fluke as he prepares to make a run in the strawweight division.
Bookending the event with light heavyweight kickboxing, Beybulat Isaev and Bogdan Stoica clash in the evening’s opening contest inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
It will be a night of fun with high stakes. The ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Championship is on the line, and the finals of the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix will be determined.
