Submission Underground closes out an action-packed year with Submission Underground 29, live from the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon.

The card is headlined by surging UFC middleweight Sean Strickland and one of Submission Underground’s must recognizable faces in Andy Varela. Strickland’s skillset in MMA is mostly based around his boxing, and is competing in a major grappling-only competition for the first time tonight as he takes on Varela, who is a former Submission Underground title challenger and multiple- event headliner fo the organization.

The co-main event puts the Tag Team Championship on the line, as Deon Clash and Anthony Birchak of Team Toro defend their belt against Charlie Gilpin and Gustavo Nessa of Team BTT Happy Valley. Similar to tag team pro wrestling, teammates that are not currently competing must stay in a certain designated spot unless tagged in by their competing teammate. The team then has three seconds to double-team their opponent before the teammate tagging out must reach the designated spot. The team with the most submissions at the end of the period wins.

Also on the card is a grudge match between MMA pioneer Tara LaRosa and 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu practitioner Mercedes White. This will be White’s first foray into Submission Underground, while LaRosa lost to Juliana Miller on the last Submission Underground card. A lot of talk on social media between the two forced this fight to fruition.

MMA Sucka has fight fans covered with Submission Underground 29 results, with the Tag Team Championship being held at 5:30pm ET/2:30pm PT on Chael Sonnen‘s YouTube page, while the rest of the card will start at 6pm ET/3pm PT on UFC Fight Pass for the final time.
