Gamebred FC 3 will take place this Friday, December 17th starting at 8:00 pm ET/5:00 pm PT. Gamebred FC is the first-ever bare-knuckle mixed martial arts promotion. This event will take place at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, as Alex Nicholson and Tony Lopez will square off in the main event, while the co-main event is a lightweight bout between Anthony Njokuani and Michael McDonald.

Gamebred FC 3 Main Event

Alex Nicholson is coming into this fight following his knockout victory over Johnathan Ivey in the main event of Gamebred FC 2 in October. That was his first fight since 2019 when he lost to Francimar Barroso in the PFL final. Nicholson has finished all 14 of his professional MMA wins with 12 of those wins being by knockout. He has an exciting fighting style that fits perfectly with bare-knuckle MMA. Nicholson is in the prime of his career at 31 years old while his competitor, Tony Lopez just turned 48 in November.

Tony Lopez has a professional MMA record of 63-31, with his last fight being a decision loss to Jared Vanderaa in 2019, when he transitioned from MMA to kickboxing and boxing. He even had one fight for BKFC, where he lost a decision to Alan Belcher. 52 of Lopez’s 63 professional MMA wins are finishes having 26 wins by submission and 26 by knockout. Lopez has career wins over fighters like Josh Parisian, Shannon Ritch, Houston Alexander, Viktor Nemkov, and Joey Beltran twice. He is a true pioneer of the sport and has been fighting professionally since 2005.

Gamebred FC 3 Co-Main Event

UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani will be making his return to combat sports at Gamebred FC 3 when he takes on Michael McDonald. Njokuani has been inactive since his Muay Thai win over Elliot Compton in October of 2019. The last time he had an MMA fight was a decision loss to Leonardo Mafra in 2016. He has a brief stint in the UFC from 2011 to 2013, where he racked up a 3-5 record in the company. He went 0-3 after being released by the UFC and then fought two Muay Thai bouts and a kickboxing bout. Now at 41 years of age, he will make his return to fight 27-year-old Michael McDonald.

Michael McDonald has a professional MMA record of 7-4 and is coming off a decision loss to Omar Johnson at Atlas Fights 54 in August 2020. McDonald has five of his seven wins via submission and has never been finished in his professional career. He won his BKFC debut in 2018 with a TKO over “Felony” Charles Bennett and lost his professional boxing debut to Sean Hemphill in 2019. McDonald will come into this fight with a three to four-inch size disadvantage but will have youth on his size coming into this fight 14 years younger than Njokuani.

Other Exciting Fights

Two fights on Gamebred FC 3 that really stand out are Javanis Ross versus RJ Summerlin and James Freeman versus Cody Herbert. Javanis Ross had fought on both of the previous Gamebred FC cards losing a submission to Wesley Golden at Gamebred FC 1 and submitting Cody Herbert at Gamebred FC 2. He has fought once in October, once in November, and will now be fighting in December. Summerlin also fought on Gamebred FC 2 back in October with a TKO victory over Chris Mixan.

James Freeman will come into his fight this weekend at 40 years old. He has a professional MMA record of 6-5, but he started his MMA career 5-0 from 2009-2016. All six of his victories are by knockout and has only lost one fight by decision. Freeman will be going against Cody Herbert, who has a professional MMA record of 2-0. In his professional debut, he knocked out 4-1 Blake Singley. The only two losses of his professional combat sports career are a boxing loss to Chris Minor and the aforementioned submission loss at Gamebred FC 2 against Javanis Ross.

My name is Michael Lynch. I’m originally from Long Island, NY, but I reside in Columbia, Sc. I’ve been covering MMA for almost two years now. I’ve covered events such as Island fights and the PFL. I also have a YouTube channel where I do fight companions and UFC fight previews. I have recently started to train in mma and would like to have my first fight in 2020. I believe that as a journalist I need to experience what these fighters go threw, in order to understand their POV.
