At its’ third event, FURY Pro Grappling is willing to give fans a variety of matchups that include renowned figures from both MMA and submission grappling. The event will take place on December 30th infamous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, and will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
Two worlds collide
As reported by MMAFighting UFC Women’s Strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas will step on the mat to square off against Danielle Kelly. Other UFC fighters participating in events are Kevin Holland, Renato Moicano Neil Magny, Sean Brady, Andre Petroski, and Patrick Sabatini.
Kelly, who is a black belt and trains out of Silver Fox Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Karel Pravec is used to the highest level of competition. She’s Who’s Number One and FURY Grappling veteran, that has a submission win over former UFC female fighter Roxanne Modafferi.
Namajunas recaptured the strawweight title at UFC 261 when she defeated Zhang Weili by first-round knockout. She has one successful title defense in form of a rematch with Weil at UFC 268 in November. She has some BJJ experience, but she trains mainly MMA aspect of grappling. Namajunes has 5 submission wins in her professional career, including one by a flying armbar.
Jones vs. Hager bout fall through
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has announced on his social media, that he’d face Bellator heavyweight and All Elite Wrestling star Jake Hager. However, Hager stated that both sides never came to terms and that bout didn’t come to fruition.
