Fury Pro Grappling doesn’t slow down when it comes to booking MMA versus grappling matchups. It was announced on Instagram that at the promotion’s third event, which will take place on December 30th, undefeated Bellator heavyweight competitor Steve Mowry will square off against 2019 ADCC silver medalist in +99kg division, Nick Rodriguez.
Mowry, who has 10 – 0 professional MMA record is a Titan FC and Bellator veteran. Six of his wins have come by way of submission. He has won using Kimura, Americana, and Arm-Triangle choke. He is a BJJ black belt under Gilbert Burns.
Rodriguez is a former NCAA Division III wrestler and BJJ Purple Belt under John Danaher. He also was a member of the famous Danaher Death Squad and is a current member of The B- Team. Kasai Pro, Polaris, and Who’s Number One veteran have competed just three times during this year. In March he defeated Yuri Simoes. In June at the Third Coast Grappling Absolute Grand Prix he defeated Pedro Marinho and later lost to Victor Hugo.
It’s interesting to see how MMA-oriented Mowry will handle renowned submission grappler such as Rodriguez, who has a strong wrestling base.
