All-female fighting promotion Invicta FC announced that the Atomweight title rematch will serve as the main attraction of its first event of 2022. Reining champion, Alesha Zappitella will defend her belt in a rematch against Jessica Delboni on January 12th at Invicta FC 45, which be held in Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
Zappitella has an 8 – 2 record and she won the vacant Atomweight title back in September 2020 at Invicta 42, when she submitted Aslhey Cummins with a Von Flue Choke. She defended the title once this past May at Invicta FC 44, when after five-round judges declared her a winner over Delboni by a split decision in their first meeting.
Delboni, who has an 11 – 3 record, has found her way back to the winning column and she did it with a bang by winning a one-night Atomweight tournament at Invicta FC: Phoenix Series 4. During one evening she defeated Tabatha Watkins, Marisa Messer-Belenchia, and Lindsey VanZandt to regain No1 contender status.
Stand-out’s on the card include former UFC veterans, Lauren Mueller and Emily Whitmire. Hailey Cowan also features on the card.
