After the announcement of the highly anticipated matchup between Takeru and Tenshin Nasukawa, which will take place in June, the K-1 star began his training camp and invited one of the best boxers in Japan’s history, Naoya Inoue

Taker posted a photo of two fighters training together on Twitter and thanking Inoue for his time.

Inoue is a former WBO junior-bantamweight and WBC light-heavyweight champion, who is the current unified champion holding WBA, IBF, and Rng magazine bantamweight titles. He has a perfect 22 – 0 professional boxing record with only three of his victories achieved by the judge’s decision. His last fight took place on December 14th, when he defeated Aran Dipaen and successfully defended his titles.

Like his training partner, Takeru himself achieved championship status in three different weight classes, as he was K-1 Super Bantamweight and Featherweight champion and currently holds promotion’s Super Featherweight gold. He also won K-1 World Grand Prix three times, each in a different weight division. He has a 42 – 2 kickboxing professional record.

His opponent is also an accomplished kickboxer himself, being undefeated in all of his 42 fights. Nasukawa is the current RISE Featherweight champion and the former bantamweight champion and has dipped into the boxing world in order to prepare for his exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather. Although he lost the fight, Nasukawa made his ambition of conquering the boxing world perfectly clear.

This upcoming bout will not only determine Japan’s best kickboxer but also will establish who is on the top of the world’s elite in striking combat sports.
