After UFC veteran Warlley Alves withdrew from his fight at UFC 270, UFC’s Jack Della Maddalena who earned his contract on Dana White’s Contender Series was left without an opponent. Now stepping in on short-notice replacing Alves is the most recent UFC signing, Pete Rodriguez. The news was first reported by MMAFighting.

Jack Della Maddalena (10-2 MMA) made his professional debut back in 2016. Currently on a 10-fight winning streak, Maddalena hasn’t lost since 2016. Known as a fighter that goes for the kill, he has finished nine of his opponents before the 3rd round. He spent most of his time fighting for Eternal MMA promotion before getting an opportunity on Contender Series in 2021 where he won by decision against Ange Loosa.

Pete Rodriguez (4-0 MMA) is coming off his first-round TKO victory over Roberto Pixley at iKon Fighting Federation 7. With all four of his wins in MMA coming by the way of KO/TKO in the first round, Rodriguez earned the reputation of a power puncher. He made his professional debut just two years ago on October 22, 2020, finishing Jorge Olea in under two minutes. While Rodriguez does not have much professional experience, he is battle-tested with nine amateur MMA fights under his belt.

UFC 270 is scheduled to take place on January 22nd and is headlined by a fight for the heavyweight championship between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane. Co-headlining the event will be a trilogy fight for the flyweight championship between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo.
