The first UFC PPV of the year takes place in Anaheim, California. The card is headlined by a battle to be the baddest man on the planet between Francis Ngannou and Cyril Gane. You can check out a technical breakdown of the fight from this weeks MMASucka Podcast here. The main event guarantees fireworks and with that being said, here are some UFC 270 betting tips to help you win big this weekend.
UFC 270 Betting Tips
Francis Ngannou to win outright (+130)
Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou (16-3) faces his former teammate and interim champion Cyril Gane (10-0) in the main event of the evening. Both men are accomplished strikers with Gane having an edge in the grappling, but this bout could well and truly go either way.
Cyril Gane secured UFC (interim) gold with a demolition job victory over Derrick Lewis. He is arguably the most well-rounded fighter at the top of the heavyweight division and it is for that reason he opens as a narrow favourite over Francis Ngannou. “Bon Gamin” is a patient striker who will look to pick Ngannou apart from range to avoid his fearsome power. Considering the fact that Ngannou was stunned by Stipe Miocic towards the end of their bout, Gane will be aware that his counter striking could play a huge part in this fight. He has proven himself to have great cardio and creative submissions, and Ngannou will have to demonstrate a well-rounded game to get his hand raised against the Frenchman.
However, slight recency bias seems to be affecting the betting lines in this bout. No man is safe for even a split-second when striking with Ngannou, and he demonstrated a vastly improved skillset in his title-winning contest against Miocic. Ngannou stuffed the veteran’s takedowns with ease, even firing off his own takedown and unleashing some hellish ground and pound from the back. “The predator” even showed off a nice variety of kicks, something he had never showcased before.
Given Ngannou’s recent improvements, there is no evidence that Gane will be able to expose any of his traditional weaknesses during the bout. Ngannou carries excellent value as a betting underdog and is, therefore, the first choice of these UFC 270 betting tips. If interested in laying down so money on Ngannou, then sports betting day is the place to be.
Raoni Barcelos to win outright (-400)
Raoni Barcelos (16-2) will welcome Victory Henry (21-5) to the UFC. This bout was first organised for UFC vegas 45 and will finally take place this weekend at UFC 270.
Victor Henry is no joke and is being slightly disrespected by the betting lines. Henry is the former LXF champion and has a great win over Kyler Phillips. “La Mangosta” has a nice arsenal of kicks and has never been finished, meaning that he will be no walk-over for Barcelos. However, his striking defence is slightly lax and against a pressure fighter like Barcelos, this will be very dangerous for him.
Raoni Barcelos will be looking to bounce back from a narrow decision loss to Timur Valiev with a victory against the American. Despite losing that bout, Barcelos almost finished Valiev in the second round. Barcelos is a fantastic striker, utilising longer combinations to drown his opponents with his high-pressure style. Despite the fact that his primary strength is his striking, Barcelos is a five times Brazillian national wrestling champion and simply has more paths to victory than Henry.
The odds aren’t favourable but backing Barcelos is a good way to sweeten your other UFC 270 bets. Therefore, Barcelos to win is the second inclusion of these UFC 270 betting tips.
