Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann will be joining the UFC Fight Night London card, the UFC announced.
The UFC recently announced the highly anticipated debut of IMMAF champ Muhammad Mokaev, who will fight Cody Durden. Then, the promotion announced another exciting addition to the UFC London card: Molly “Meatball” McCann vs. Luana “Dread” Carolina.
Pimblett, meanwhile, is set to fight Rodrigo “Kazula” Vargas on the same card. This is the second time the two Liverpool fighters will share the same card, the first being Pimblett’s debut back in September 2021.
Molly McCann vs. Luana Carolina
Molly McCann is another British favorite to be added to the increasingly stacked London card. With an 11-4 record, “Meatball” is known for her power-packed fists and incredible gas tank. The Liverpudlian’s last fight against South Korean Ji Yeon Kim was so excitingly brutal that it earned the Fight of the Night for the event despite going the distance.
Across the Octagon will be 28-year-old Luana Carolina, who comes in with an 8-2 record. The Brazilian only has a 25% KO rate compared to “Meatball”’s 36%, but, like the Brit, she is better known for her ability to go the distance. “Dread” is also coming in on a unanimous decision win against Lupita Godinez back in October of last year.
With both ladies owning both the power and the cardio to last 15 minutes, fight fans are sure to enjoy three rounds of WMMA brutality.
Paddy Pimblett vs Kazula Vargas
The former Cage Warriors featherweight Champion had an exciting debut in the UFC. Despite being rocked by opponent Luigi Vendramini early in the first round, “The Baddy” miraculously recovered and managed to turn things around with a knockout win late in that same round. Coming into UFC London on a three-win streak high, Pimblett comes in with a 17-3 record with a 41% submission rate.
Facing him will be Mexican hopeful “Kazula” Vargas. Vargas broke his two-loss streak with a unanimous decision win against Zhu Rong during UFC 261 and is coming into the battle with the Scouser with renewed vigor. “Kazula” currently holds a 12-4 record and is coming in with knockout power confirmed, with the Mexican having a 58% knockout rate.
This fight could only end in a finish as both lightweights will probably be seeking to knock the other out.
Tickets for UFC London go on sale to the public on Feb. 4.
