AJ McKee vs. Patricio Freire 2 in the Works for Spring

Two of Bellator’s top featherweights once again may be on a collision course, as A.J. McKee and two-division champion Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire matchup is in the works for April.

According to MMA Fighting a May is also a possibility for this clash. One thing is for sure, Bellator wants to McKee vs. Freire rematch to happen in the spring.  

In their first meeting, McKee choked out Freire with a guillotine choke within the very first two minutes of a fight and won the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix and captured a championship belt in the process. ‘The Mercenary’ has an unblemished 18 – 0 MMA record with all his fights taking place inside the Bellator cage. He also holds victories over Georgi Karakhanyan, Derek Campos, and Darrion Caldwell

The younger Freire brother was riding a seven-fight winning streak when he first fought McKee. The most decorated fighter in promotion’s history holds a record of 20 wins inside the Bellator cage. He stacked up 32 – 5 professional MMA record and holds victories over such renowned fighters as Michael Chandler, Emanuel Sanchez (twice), Juan Archuleta, and Daniel Straus (thrice).
