Romero debuted in Bellator back in September at Bellator 266 when he lost by a split decision to former light heavyweight titleholder, Phil Davis, making this his fourth defeat in a row, including a UFC middleweight title fight against Israel Adesanya. The Cuban fighter was scheduled to participate in Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix and meet fellow UFC veteran, Anthony Johnson in an opening round, but he withdrew due to an eye issue and finally faced the aforementioned Davis instead.
Manhoef will be making his return after his second-round TKO loss to Corey Anderson in November 2020. He has 4 – 4 – 1 NC record with the promotion since his debut back in 2014. He was defeated by Anderson, Joe Schilling and unsuccessfully challenged twice for the Bellator Middleweight title against Rafael Carvalho. He holds wins over Doug Marshall, Hisaki Kato, Kent Kauppinen, and Yannick Bahati. His knockout win over Alexander Schlemenko was overturned to a No Contest after he tested positive for anabolic steroids. He also fought on the premiere edition of Bellator Kickboxing, where he lost to Alexandru Negrea.
Bellator Paris takes place May 6 and is headlined by a rematch between current Heavyweight Champion Ryan Bader and Cheick Kongo.
