UAE Warriors is adding a meaningful fight to the second leg of the company’s triple-header showcase in March, MMASucka.com learned on Wednesday.
Martun Mezhlumyan Fights Carlos Silva at UAE Warriors 28
Armenian lightweight prospect Martun Mezhlumyan (12-3) will look to get back on the winning track when he takes on Brazilian Professional Fighters League veteran Carlos Silva (12-3) at UAE Warriors 28: International on Mar. 26. The fight will take place at 155 pounds.
Mezhlumyan is coming off a loss to Ukranian Evgeniy Plaksin that saw him lose the Eagles FC Lightweight Championship in Moldova, though status as the former champion could propel him to a UAE Warriors lightweight championship fight with a victory over the 28-year-old Silva.
“Carlão” is coming off the biggest win of his career against UFC veteran Adriano Martins (28-12) at the Copa Norte de MMA 2021 Finals. The Brazilian last fought for PFL in 2019 when he fell to Akhmed Aliev in the first round, and his fight with Mezhlumyan will be his fourth fight in four-and-a-half years.
UAE Warriors 28 will take place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, perhaps more commonly known as “Fight Island.” The show is scheduled to be broadcasted around the world on UFC Fight Pass and will be the second of three consecutive UAE Warriors shows between Mar. 25 and 27.
Mezhlumyan vs. Silva is far from the only fight coming to UAE Warriors 28. The show will also feature current light heavyweight champion Tarek Suleiman (12-7) of Syria fighting SBG Ireland’s Will Fleury (9-3) for the inaugural middleweight championship in the main event, as well as a co-main event clash between Venezuelan fighter Carolina Jimenez (7-0) and Canadian Corinne Laframboise (7-4) for the vacant women’s flyweight championship.
The event will take place between UAE Warriors 27: Africa on Mar. 25 and UAE Warriors 29: Arabia on Mar. 27.
