WNO: Couch vs Ryan Results

Who’s Number One puts on a stacked card of grappling tonight in Frisco, Texas, and the king of grappling returns the headlining act. Main Event: The King is Back

Replacing his brother Nicky against Couch, the main event sees Gordon Ryan back in action for the first time in almost a year. Fans will be treated to 30 minutes of live grappling between the two in a match that sees the underdog Couch try to overcome a significant size disadvantage. “The Hillbilly Hammer” trains out of Hazard, Kentucky, and represents Pedigo Submission Fighting. Most recently, he submitted David Garmo with an inside heel hook at the most recent WNO event.

Gordon Ryan hasn’t lost a match in nearly four years and is a three-time ADCC world champion. Competing in WNO for the fifth straight time, Ryan last tapped Vagner Rocha with a triangle choke. Several sites have Ryan ranked as the number one pound-for-pound grappler alive, meaning a win for Couch would be a monumental upset.

Also on the card are grappling prodigy Micael Galvao facing 2019 IBJJF World Champion Dante Leon, a heavyweight match between 2021 ADCC North American Trials runner up Elder Cruz and Ghanian standout Haisam Rida, and recent Medusa 2 Strawweight Tournament Champion Sophia Cassella taking on Jessica Crane on the heels of Crane’s heel hook submission win over Alexa Yanes at the last WNO event.
