MMASucka’s UFC Vegas 58 Staff Picks

A slower but exciting fight day it will be for our MMASucka staff picks.

One card for our yearly endeavor takes place this weekend with UFC Vegas 58, also titled as UFC on ESPN 39. The action takes place tonight, July 9 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Six fights make up the main card beginning at 9:00pm ET (6:00pm PT) on both ESPN and ESPN+.

Live results from UFC Vegas 58: dos Anjos vs. Fiziev will be available here at MMASucka.

The Fights

Lightweight ranked talents Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev will meet in the featured main event of the night. Although sharing first names, the two sit at different spots in their UFC careers as the each look to display their set of skills in a possible 25-minute battle.

Former divisional champion dos Anjos looks to continue the climb back towards the 155-peak as he makes his fifth main event appearance in his last six octagon meetings. A November of 2020 win of Paul Felder and a March of this year win of Renato Moicano puts the Brazilian one step closer towards a possible title shot once more. dos Anjos’s opponent, Fiziev, makes his sixth promotional walk tonight in a professional career dating only back to 2015. The 29-year-old Azerbaijani looks for his sixth straight win since his only defeat to Magomed Mustafaev in mid-2019.

In the co-main event, Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan hope for a big performance in their biggest career fights. Borralho targets a second UFC victory after ending the undefeated run of Gadzhi Omargadzhiev in April. Petrosyan aims for the same having a successful start to his promotional tenure taking a split decision in February over Gregory Rodrigues.

One main card pairing between Cynthia Calvillo and Nina Nunes was pulled from the event earlier this morning (Saturday) due to a stomach virus. In turn, only five fights from the main card will be counted towards our picks. Who are the MMASucka taking at UFC Vegas 58?

Staff Picks

Staff picks in 2022 will follow the same set of rules from the 2021 season. Throughout the calendar year, staff picks will be composed of main card fights from both UFC and Bellator events. Main card fights and selected preliminary fights will be included for PFL MMA. Dana White’s Contender Series will be composed of the entire fight card; dates for this promotion’s return are soon-to-be announced.

The WINNER of staff picks in 2022 will have a choice between receiving a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts or a chain from Championship Chains. A winner is determined simply by the individual correctly picking the most victorious fighters at the year’s end. Nate Freeman secured his first victory with MMASucka in 2021 with a compiled record 243-136.
