Muay Thai legend Buakaw Benchamek has signed the deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and is expected to make his debut on September 3 in his native Thailand.

The news was reported by the promotion on its’ website and social media. ‘Buakaw,’ which means “white lotus” is considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all times. He has an overall record of 240-24-12 with 73 victories coming by stoppage.

‘Buakaw’ is a former two-time Omnoi Stadium champion, Lumpinee Stadium Toyota Marathon champion, and former No. 1 ranked fighter in Lumpinee Stadium. A list of his accolades goes on including the Thailand Featherweight championship and the 2011 & 2012 Thai Fight tournament championship. In the world of kickboxing, he’s best known for being a two-time K-1 World MAX champion. The Thai also won a 2014 WBC Muay Thai Diamond World championship.

In his statement for the BKFC ‘Buakaw’ said:

 “It’s been almost 11 years since I last fought in the United States and I’ve always wanted to return. I love bare-knuckle fighting and this creates a new challenge for me which I welcome. I’m very grateful to BKFC for this great opportunity and can’t wait to put on a show for their fans all over the world.”

According to David Feldman, President and Founder of BKFC, Muay Thai legend is scheduled to make his promotional debut in his home country on September 3. His next fight will be featured on a big BKFC fight card that will take place later this year. 

‘Buakaw’ is the next big signing for the promotion, as BKFC acquired a list of well-known individuals from other combat sports such as Greg Hardy, Paige VanZant, Héctor Lombard, John Dodson, and Mike Perry amongst others.
