BKFC Interested in Signing Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz will not have to wait long for new employment after he will fight out his UFC contract in September. According to BKFC president David Feldman, the promotion will try to purchase his services when he presumably will test free agency.

In his interview with MMA Junkie Radio, Feldman said:

“I think it would be a great fit for our organization. Let’s see what happens with this fight that they just announced in the UFC with him.”

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship made its’ policy to sign athletes from other combat sports, mainly those with MMA backgrounds. Former MMA standouts such as Mike Perry, Paige VanZant, Chad Mendes, Jimmie Rivera, Artem Lobov, Julian Lane, and Alan Belcher have been signed by the promotion. BKFC also is willing to offer one-time deals, like one made to Michael “Venom” Page. This could be attractive for Diaz, who possibly will not be looking to bound himself with one promotion.

According to Feldman, everything depends on how Diaz’s fight with Khamzat Chimaev will play out and what will be the fallout of it:

“The one thing I always want to worry about is that these fighters should still be fighting and not saying he definitely should be fighting. But after a tough fight like that, does he want to continue fighting? Is his heart in it? Is his body still in it, and is he ready to do it? If those answers are yes, 100 percent we would be in the Nate Diaz business, a hundred percent.”

Diaz is scheduled to fight Chimaev in a five-round main event at UFC 279 on September 10. By doing so, he will fight out his current UFC deal, which he tried to get out of for quite some time. However, the promotion was not willing to give him any fight despite his campaign to be paired against Dustin Poirier among other fighters. It looked like the UFC kept him waiting for the return of Conor McGregor in order to book their trilogy fight. Finally, a consensus was reached as the Stockton native will square off against ‘Borz.’ After that, he will be free to pursue other goals, like a rumored potential boxing bout with Jake Paul.
