The KSW Heavyweight champion, Phil De Fries will defend his title against Ricardo Prasel at KSW 74 on September 4th. The news was announced by MMA Junkie, which was informed by promotion officials.
BREAKING: Heavyweight King Phil De Fries to Defend at KSW 74
This will be De Fries’s seventh consecutive title defense, as the 36 – year – old won the KSW gold back in 2018 by beating Michal Andryszak at KSW 43.
Since then, he has defeated individuals such as former champion Karol Bedorf, former light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun, Luis Henrique, Michał Kita, and most recently Darko Stošić at KSW 67. The Bellator and UFC alumni went on a nine-fight winning streak after splitting from the latter, where he stacked up a 2 – 3 balance.
His opponent, Ricardo Prasel has a 13 – 3 professional record. Interestingly enough, the Brazilian Fighter is a former Chelsea F.C. goalkeeper that switched from football to MMA. A Brazilian MMA circuit veteran made his international debut at RIZIN 10, where he lost to Ante Delija by unanimous decision. His next noteworthy fight took place on Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2019, where he lost to Don’Tale Mayes by referee stoppage due to receiving a series of punches on the ground. He made his KSW debut at KSW 68, where he beat Michal Kita. Next, he defeated UFC and ACA veteran, Daniel Omielanczuk. This was enough to be put in the title picture.
As for now, this is the only fight announced for the upcoming KSW 74 card, which will take place on September 4th. The upcoming KSW 73 event is scheduled to take place on August 20th at Torwar Arena, Warsaw. The event will be headlined by an MMA clash between two proficient kickboxers, Arek Wrzosek and Tomasz Sarara. The event will also feature the following matchups: Daniel Rutkowski vs. Lom-Ali Eskiev, Radosław Paczuski vs. Jason Radcliffe, Ion Surdu vs Artur Szczepaniak, Karolina Owczarz vs. Natalia Baczyńska and Borys Borkowski vs. Rimgaudas Kutkaitis.
