For the second time this year, ONE Championship brings their show outside of Singapore to present ONE on Prime Video 5: De Ridder vs. Malykhin at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Tonight’s card will feature 9 bouts between some of ONE’s fiercest competitors in MMA, Muay Thai and submission grappling. The night will end with two titles on the line, ONE’s Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title and ONE’s Light Heavyweight World Championship.
The main event will be between Reinier de Ridder (16-0) and Anatoly Malykhin (11-0) for ONE’s Light Heavyweight World Title. De Ridder has been taking over ONE Championship in a way no fighter has really done showing off an array of different chokes since his first fight. After taking both belts from his title fights with Aung La N Sang, the Dutch double champ has now defended his middleweight title twice by way of submission. Now moving up a weight class, De Ridder is looking to keep this momentum going against one of the hardest hitters in the ONE’s heavyweight division. Anatoly Malykhin has been making some noise himself in the next division up from De Ridder’s. After securing ONE’s interim Heavyweight World Title earlier this year, Malykhin has now finished all 3 of his fights with his concussive striking. With a combined pro record of 27-0, Tonight fight fans will truly witness an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
The co-main in tonight’s card will be a championship matchup in submission grappling between Kade Ruotolo and Matheus Gabriel. Since his debut against Shinya Aoki that ended in a decision win, Kade has been on an absolute tear winning his next 5 grappling matches all by submission. During that time, the rising prospect has won both the 2022 ADC Lightweight Tournament and ONE’s Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title and looks to defend the latter against another young BJJ star in Matheus Gabriel. The young Brazilian star makes his ONE debut in attempt to dethrone a champion on an impressive submission streak. Gabriel himself has not been submitted since 2018 and as finished 24 of his 48 wins so far. With 15 of those finishes being some variation of an armbar or armlock, keep an eye out for one of those when Kade enters his guard tonight.
Tonight’s event will also include the highly anticipated debut of former KSW double champ Roberto Soldic (20-3). The Croatian fighter looks to add to his already impressive legacy against rising prospect Murad Ramazanov (11-0). Muay Thai strawweights Amber Kitchen and Jackie Buntan square off in a rematch from 5 years ago. One last matchup to highlight would be the submission grappling bout between former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov and Kade’s twin brother Tye Ruotolo.
MMA Sucka will have live coverage for ONE on Prime Video 5: De Ridder vs. Malykhin. The full card will be available on Amazon Prime Video with the preliminary card starting at 8pm ET/5pm PT. Followed by the main card at 10pm ET/7pm PT.
