This is the first time Pettis will lace up a pair of boxing gloves professionally after having one of the most successful MMA careers in history. The Milwaukee native is still currently under contract with the PFL and has alluded to return to the promotion for the 2023 season.
In most recent times, Pettis has had a roller coaster ride since leaving the UFC in 2020. He has lost four of his five PFL fights, including a unanimous decision loss to Stevie Ray in the post season last year.
The man across from him this time in the squared circle is boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. The 54-year-old returned to the ring in 2020 as part of an exhibition match against all time great Mike Tyson that resulted in a split draw.
Jones Jr. is regarded as on the best boxers in history boasting a record of 66-9 professionally, and won titles at Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight all while beating names such as Bernard Hopkins, Feliz Trinidad, James Toney and Antonio Tarver to name a few.
Also joining the Pettis/Jones Jr main event is a star studded cast with former UFC featherweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo, taking on UFC and WEC title contender Jeremy Stephens, and former UFC light heavyweight champion Vítor Belfort taking on former UFC talent and Strikeforce champion Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza
