With the original bout inked for February falling through, and now both with a win under their resume since then, WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete will defend his title against Oscar Valdez on August 12th in Glendale, Arizona, at the Desert Diamond Arena, the same location their initial meeting was set to take place.

Navarrete (37-1, 31 KO) and Valdez (31-1, 23 KO) both scored wins with ‘Vaquero’ scoring a narrow win against Liam Wilson, while Valdez this past weekend scored a decision victory in rematch against Adam Lopez.
Though both men scored their respective wins, both men struggled to shine. Navarrete had difficulty against Wilson, even getting knocked down in the process and had to war his way through to secure the victory, whereas Valdez looked solid against Lopez but couldn’t string up any memorable highlights in the bout. Safe to say both men at this stage of their careers are in need of a statement victory to solidify their place atop the division, now that Shakur Stevenson has moved up in weight.
One thing that is for certain, boxing fans are in store for one violent affair given the styles of both men and the affirmation of the boxing community at stake.
