Challenged extended and challenge accepted. ONE Championship and AEW will cross paths at AEW WrestleDream, it seems. ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Demetrious Johnson challenged AEW’s Kenny Omega to a Street Fighter competition.

Mighty Mouse’s Challenge

Johnson extended the offer to Omega on the second episode of his new podcast, MightyCast. “Mighty Mouse” stated he would defeat Omega and put money on the line. On Thursday, Johnson doubled down by reaching out to “The Cleaner” on X.

“Kenny Omega, people out there say you’re one of the greatest at Street Fighter 6, but I’m putting $100, hell, I’ll put $1,000 on it,” Johnson said on his podcast. “Street Fighter 6, me vs. you, I guarantee I beat you. We can do five matches — Street Fighter 6, not modern controllers, classic controllers. Well, you can do modern if you want. Bet you $1,000, your boy Mighty right here beats you in Street Fighter 6.”

Omega’s Response

Omega was quick to respond. The AEW star, known for being world-class at the game, showed no trepidation in taking on one of MMA’s all-time greats on Johnson’s home turf of Seattle, Wash. The potential matchup could set up a crossover that fans will love to see.

“Anyone’s free to insult my wrestling ability, but this cockamamie idea that you’re better at Street Fighter than me?! That makes it personal,” Omega wrote on X. “For charity, I’ll do it – heck, I can even put you in touch with Austin Creed. You guys can bond over being losers, etc.”

AEW WrestleDream takes place on Sunday, October 1, from Seattle. It comes just two days after ONE Fight Night 14 on Prime Video on Friday, September 29, making it a full weekend for the two companies. Johnson vs. Omega is the crossover matchup we never knew we wanted until now.

ONE Fight Night 14 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, September 29. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event is free for all Amazon Prime subscribers based in the U.S. and Canada.
