FEN starts 2024 with an event held at Arena Ostrów in Ostrów Wielkopolski, Poland. FEN 52 will be headlined by a light heavyweight affair between defending champion Marcin Łazarz and Bartosz Szewczyk.

Marcin Łazarz vs. Bartosz Szewczyk – for the FEN light heavyweight title

Marcin Łazarz (15 – 9, 1 NC) is a European MMA circuit veteran, who has competed in such promotions as BAMMA, KSW, Babilon MMA, and M -1 amongst others. He made his FEN debut back in 2020. He got a light heavyweight title shot right out of the gate in his promotional debut at FEN 29: Lotos Fight Night Ostróda.

However, his bout against the then-champion Adam Kowalski ended with a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke by Łazarz in the third round. At FEN 32: Lotos Fight Night Warszawa he beat Wojciech Janusz to get another chance at the belt.

Surprisingly enough he switched his attention to other promotions before meeting Szewczyk at FEN 44 in Ostrów Wielkopolski over a year ago in January 2023. The fight went full distance at Łazarz was awarded a unanimous decision win.  At FEN 50 he dethroned then-current champion Eder de Souza by knocking him out with a left hook in the very first round.

After harnessing his skills at the Amateur MMA League, where he stacked up a 6 – 2 record, Szewczyk (6 –  2 – 1) made his professional and FEN debut back in 2021. He won his first three consecutive fights and tasted his first defeat at the hands of experienced veteran Szymon Bajor at FEN 37: ENERGA Fight Night Wrocław.

Here won his next two bouts only to be stopped by Łazar in their first meeting. His bout against Łukasz Klinger FEN 46: Kuberski vs. Wojciechowski ended with a draw.

At FEN 49: Fight Night Mrągowo, he easily defeated Ederson Cristian Macedo with a knockout.   As far as for now, in his sole fight outside the FEN Szewczyk continued his most recent streak of wins by knocking out Artem Zemlyakov at UAE Warriors 45.

Now the time has come for a long-anticipated rematch with a FEN light heavyweight title on the line. Despite spending almost the entirety of his career in the promotion, this will be Szewczyk’s first crack at the championship gold.

Rest of the card:

Former FEN welterweight title challenger Kamil Kraśka (5 – 2) will try to bounce back after his loss to Adrian Zieliński at FEN 49: Fight Night Mrągowo. He will face Aslambek Arsamikov (8 – 5), who is a veteran of both Polish and European MMA circuits. He was supposed to make his promotional debut against Łukasz Świrydowicz at FEN 49, but the fight never came to fruition. The fight card will also feature two amateur rules bouts: Jakub Zieliński vs.  F. Szymański and Krupiński vs.  Ilman Didaev.
