Three Title Fights Set for CAMMA 37: Night Two

Iowa’s premier mixed martial arts promotion Caged Aggression is nearly ready to showcase its 20th two-night event at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa on March 22nd and 23rd.

With fight announcements trickling in over the last couple of weeks, the organization has recently released the official fight card for night two, which takes place on the 23rd.

With three champions set to be crowned, night two looks like a stellar end to the fight-filled weekend.

Main Event

Former Ultimate Fighter contestants Eric “Showtime” Shelton (17-8) and Josh “The Finisher” Rettinghouse (18-5) will come to blows in the cage for night two’s main event for the coveted Caged Aggression bantamweight championship.

Shelton enters the event riding a two-fight win streak with decision wins over Dwight Joseph and Teshay Gouthro. After the nine months off, “Showtime” looks to enter the CAMMA battleground to secure three in a row and the bantamweight belt.

For the aptly named “Finisher”, the two-fight win streak looks slightly different, with a TKO finish over Chris Beal and a submission victory over Charon Spain. Rettinghouse looks to finish his opponent, raising the streak to three while also taking home the title on Saturday.

Other Title Fights

The next of the final three title fights of the weekend comes earlier in the card, this one for the vacant amateur CAMMA middleweight gold between Michael Klapperich (3-0 Am) and Tyree Overton (3-0 Am).

Klapperich comes into the fight with two of his three bouts ending via KO/TKO finish, one of which last year was under the CAMMA lights. With his last win coming via decision just one month ago, he will look to get back to his finishing roots against Overton to win the belt.

For Overton, he is riding a two-fight finish streak, with his last victory coming via submission. Unlike his opposition, Overton has not fought this year and has not seen a cage since February of last year. Time will tell if the months away were the building blocks for him or if his active opposition can ride the recent hot streak. As the saying goes, “Someone’s 0 has to go”.

Lastly, CAMMA has put together another amateur title fight, this time for the vacant welterweight title between Derick Minch (3-1 Am) and Spencer Oberboeckling (8-2 Am).

After a 0-1 start to his career, Minch has been putting together finishes, three to be exact, all by KO/TKO. With an allotted time of 5:31 across his three-fight finish streak, he’ll look to get it done with a highlight once more against Oberbroeckling.

Oberbroeckling is no stranger to a title fight. Last year, he won and defended the True Revelation welterweight championship in 2023, with both fights ending in a round-one finish. Riding a three-fight finish streak, he’ll look to make it four and also add another belt to his trophy case against Minch.

Night one of Caged Aggression 37: Path to Glory is set to begin March 22nd at approximately 7:30 central at the River Center in Davenport, IA. Tickets to the event can be purchased here, as well as a pay-per-view stream here.
