Expect Elle Brooke vs. Paige VanZant to be ran back ASAP.
The femme fatale would headline Misfits Boxing 15 last weekend in Houston, Texas and it did not disappoint. Brooke held her own throughout five rounds against the former UFC star, even dropping VanZant with a right hand in the first round. VanZant regained her composure and rebounded with volume attacks to the final bell.
The judges couldn’t make up their mind in the end with the result being a split draw down the middle, leaving Brooke to retain her Misfits Boxing title and VanZant without a win in her pro boxing debut.
“What a fight,” Misfits Promoter Mams Taylor told Fred Talks Fighting following the main event. “So proud of Elle. Fantastic new addition to Misfits Boxing is Paige VanZant. I think it was the right decision. It’s exactly the score I had for it. I think if Elle did a little bit more not to tire herself out, and that comes with experience and the big occasion. Paige has the experience. I think she could have nicked that.”
VanZant has fought all over from the UFC to the BKFC with the fight against England’s Brooke marking her 16th professional fight. For Brooke, this was her first as a pro after facing fellow influencers on their fresh boxing circuit.
With VanZant vs. Brooke taking place on American soil in Houston, Taylor believes it’s only right that the rubber match plays host to Brooke’s backyard – potentially in London.
“Rematch in the UK… Listen, Elle can sell out a small arena in the UK, so I think she earned this spot. I think she’s an absolute superstar. I think Paige is a superstar. I think that fight absolutely begs for a rematch.”
