Former interim lightweight champion and potentially retired fighter Dustin Poirier will be using his voice instead of his fists at UFC 303.
“The Diamond” has been added to the commentary desk ahead of the big pay-per-view.
MMAJunkie.com first reported the addition of Poirier and the rest of the commentators and analysts.
Brendan Fitzgerald will serve as the host, with Chael Sonnen, Teddy Atlas and Poirier as desk analysts on the post-fight show and during the card as well.
Following his loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, Poirier suggested he was leaning towards retirement. Could this be the path he decides to follow?
Other notable roles for UFC 303 are long time UFC correspondent Megan Olivi doing pre and post-fight interviews backstage, as well as giving details on certain fighters as they enter the Octagon. Bruce Buffer will serve as the in Octagon announcer, introducing fighters. And the cage side team will consist of Jon Anik, Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier.
UFC 303 goes down on Saturday, June 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main event features a light heavyweight title fight rematch between Alex Pereira and former champion Jiri Prochazka. Unfortunately, the original main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was canceled, but the UFC betting lines for the rest of the event are still on fire.
The evening’s co-main event features a very intriguing featherweight match-up, as Brian Ortega takes on the red hot Diego Lopes. Also on the card is a battle between Anthony Smith and Roman Dolidze, as well as Ian Machado Garry taking on Michael “Venom” Page.
