Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) is back with another massive summer event with CFFC 133. The show will emanate from the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Fla., and feature a massive lightweight main event for the undisputed lightweight championship.
Incumbent champion Robert Watley will take on interim champion Morquez Forest in a classic battle between experience and youth.
Fight fans can catch CFFC 133 streaming live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
CFFC Lightweight Championship — Watley vs. Forest
Watley, the reigning and defending champion, has been on an incredible run as of late. After dabbling with retirement, he resumed his career, overcoming a handful of personal trials and tribulations to eventually win the CFFC lightweight crown from the talented Cedric Gunnison last year. The veteran has seen his fair share of highs, having competed in the PFL back in 2018, even reaching the playoffs that year before falling to Chris Wade.
With the support of his loved ones, Watley has since shown he is still very much on the level of elite regional competition, beating Gunnison via majority decision before submitting Armando Gjetja in his first title defense back in December.
Forest, the local favorite, has long been on the CFFC radar. He is formerly a CFFC NextGen (amateur) champion at welterweight, and claimed the interim lightweight title with a submission win over Robert Varricchio his last time out.
Now 5-0, Forest will face what should easily be the toughest fight of his career in Watley. A trip to Dana White’s Contender Series could be in store for the winner, depending on how the fight goes. Forest, for what it’s worth, is not one to shy away from close combat. Of his five wins, four have come by way of finish, and Friday will be his first taste of the five round experience, though per CFFC rules, the fight will only see a fifth round if the judges do not have a winning decision after four rounds.
Rest of the Card
The co-main event pulls from the CFFC flyweight division, as Max Quinones meets Gustavo Villamil. With Villamil at 6-2 and Quinones at 5-1, the winner will surely find themselves on the fast track to a flyweight title shot.
The rest of the card features a slew of inexperienced fighters looking to prove themselves on a UFC Fight Pass stage. One name to watch will be Kaushik Saikumar. The Indian is succeeding in a sport with limited representation from his home nation. These days, he trains out of Virginia under Head Coach Ryan Hall, and on Friday, he’ll look to move to 4-0 if he can past 2-1 Joel Winters.
The heavyweights will also collide when Anthony Guarascio takes on Justin Harbison. The two fighters are a combined 3-0 and both have the potential to become serious prospects under the CFFC banner. Harbison is a former NAIA wrestler out of University of Providence, while Guarascio entered the sport with amateur boxing and kickboxing experience. Whether or not this will be a traditional striker vs. grappler matchup remains to be seen.
