Former bantamweight contender, Casey Kenney has been arrested and charged for an alleged kidnapping incident which took place on July 21st.

The 135er was arrested on Friday and faces two felony charges: one for kidnapping and one for aggravated assault (strangulation), as well as four misdemeanours: three for assault, one for disorderly conduct.

As per MMAJunkie, the police were called to a domestic violence call and paramedics treated a woman for injuries on the scene. The Phoenix Police Department gave the following statement to MMAJunkie:
“On July 22, 2024, around 12:15 p.m., officers responded to an unknown [sic] trouble call in the area of [address redacted]. Officers located an adult female victim with some visible abrasions reporting a domestic violence assault. The female was treated by paramedics and interviewed by investigators. No contact was made with the suspect at that time. This case is still active.”

Casey Kenney holds an MMA record of 16-4, with a UFC record of 5-3. Most recently, the American, who holds a second dan black belt in Judo put together back to back losses against Dominick Cruz and Song Yadong. He most recently competed in August 2021.

Since his arrest, the UFC have made the decision to release Kenney from his contract. The news was first reported by X account ‘UFC Roster Tracker’.
