The winter chills are finally departing as most of the Western hemisphere turn their clocks forward an hour. Summer is nearly upon us, and MMA fans around the world have lots to look forward to.
MMA Fights This Summer
Across the promotions, fight cards have been thrown into full gear as countries worldwide open up and restrictions ease. UFC looks to bring back Fight Night to sunny Singapore, while ONE Championship is rumored to be bringing the Circle to the US for the first time ever. Let’s have a look at three fights that MMA fans are excited about.
Usman vs. Edwards
Time and time again, MMA fans all over the internet have been calling for Leon Edwards to finally get his shot at the title. The number 3 ranked British national has had a slew of unfortunate fight cancellations over the last year due to his opponents dropping out. One such opponent was Jorge Masvidal, who Edwards was supposed to fight during UFC 269.
Now, enough is enough. “Rocky” had been eyeing the welterweight belt for a while, and it’s well past time that current champ Kamaru Usman signed the dotted line. Whenever this may happen, hopefully during this summer, it will surely be a banger and one that new online casinos would indeed be waging big money on.
Amosov vs. MVP
Bellator returns to London in May with an absolute banger of a main event. The belt of welterweight champion Yaroslav Amasov is on the line, and hometown hero Michael Page has his eyes on it. MVP earned his title shot after winning his 6th fight in a row back in October via a split decision win against hopeful contender Douglas Lima.
MVP faces his most formidable challenge yet in Amasov, who’s currently riding a whopping 26-0 clean record. This fight will definitely be one to keep fight fans on the edge of their seats.
Chandler vs. Ferguson
The recently announced bout between Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson had fight fans reeling all over Twitter. The 38-year-old “El Cucuy” faces one of the most exciting fighters that have debuted on the UFC roster, while Chandler faces one of the most beloved veterans in the UFC. Chandler and Ferguson both attempted to dethrone current lightweight champ Charles Olivera, but neither succeeded.
The fighters are well-beloved in their own rights, known for their absolute ferocity in the Octagon. Both will be coming into UFC 274 on losing streaks, but only one will emerge victorious.
An exciting summer of fights
