Seven Fights slated for SFL 4 in Mumbai, India

India’s Super Fight League has confirmed 7 bouts for its upcoming SFL 4 event, which is slated for October 12th in Mumbai. SFL 4 is assumed to be the start of the promotion’s new initiative, titled ‘Friday Night Fight Nights’. From October 12th onwards, as part of this new initiative, the India-based organization is set to showcase fights on a weekly basis, from a specially designed arena in Mumbai in front of an exclusive invitation only audience.

SFL 4 was originally planned to be headlined by UFC veterans Jeff Monson and Todd Duffee months ago. Following a Jekyll and Hyde ride over a rough patch, however, the promotion eventually opted to scrap the entire event. Now, though, following the resignation of former CEO Ken Pavia, the SFL has brought its 4th event back after deciding to move towards a new direction.

The 4th installment of the SFL will be headlined by returning DREAM veteran Kultar Singh Gill and Amr Wahman. The former is a veteran of over 15 professional MMA bouts and has a resume that includes fights with the likes of Tatsuya Kawajiri, Joachim Hansen, Rodrigo Damm and Yves Edwards. Gill will be competing for the 2nd time under SFL banner, following a successful promotional debut win over Quinton Arendse.

Amr Wahman, in the meantime, is an unknown fighter in the MMA community. The 27-year-old hails from Cairo, Egypt and according to Sherdog.com, the Egyptian has a professional MMA record of 1-1.

The co-Main event pits Sanja Sucevic against Irene Cabello in a Flyweight tilt. Fans would of course remember Sucevic from her time as a coach on ‘SFL Challengers’, SFL’s very own MMA reality TV series. The Serbian recently marked her promotional SFL debut with a Submission victory over Lena Ovchynnikova.

Her opponent, Irene Cabello, is a 19-year-old starlet who is 1-1 in her professional MMA career. The Spaniard last competed in July, where she gained a Submission victory over Carme Panayiotou.

A total of 8 bouts are expected to be slated for SFL 4. Since 2 female bouts are to be showcased each week, expect the 8th and final bout to feature 2 female fighters.
