Bellator Suits What Ben Saunders Is Looking For

When people talk about the Bellator tournament, everybody thinks of the welterweight division as it their deepest division and most talked about. When Ben Saunders signed with Bellator he was leery because he had previously fought in the UFC and they run a well oiled machine. After defeating Matt Lee at Bellator 39, Saunders’ fears were erased.

“It was awesome, Saunders told us. I actually really like it. There are phenominal. Everyone on staff is good people. They treated me great. Seeing the new way they are promoting stuff and commercial stuff, they are are putting a lot of effort into it. This Season 5 tournament, I couldn’t be more happy.”

Season 5 of Bellator begins this coming Saturday live on MTV2 at 9ET and the welterweight tournamnet will be the showcase. Saunders (10-3-2 MMA, 1-0 BFC) will be making his tournament debut against Chris Cisernos (13-3 MMA, 0-0 BFC) who will be replacing Rick Hawn, who withdrew due to injury. Saunders is itching to get back in the cage and looking forward to Saturday night.

“I was trying to actually fight for awhile, said Saunders. I’m just looking forward to getting back in there. To be honest, being apart of this tournament just means I get to stay busy and fight three times in three months. As crazy as it might sound, it sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of work.”

You usually do not see fighters liking to that many times in a short amount of time as most fighters like to fight to three times year, but this is exactly Saunders is looking for.

“This (Bellator) is definitely where its at, said Saunders. Obviously things come up in the sport as far as like maybe injuries, that pull people out of fights. If those didn’t play a factor, I’d fight everyday, every week, every month but this actually allows it.”
