Faber to face off against Barao?

The news has just broken on Dominick Cruz’s torn ACL, but it looks like Urijah Faber is already campaigning for a new opponent.

Faber, who was scheduled to face Cruz for the bantamweight title at UFC 148 before Cruz’s injury, took to Twitter to suggest rising Brazilian star Renan Barao as a possible replacement:

Sucks about @thedomin8r hope recovers fast! Sounds like 9 months after surgery @renanbaraoufc sounds like the best replacement! @danawhite

Barao has also been retweeting every suggestion that has him fighting Faber, so it looks like “The California Kid” has a willing dance partner, all we need is for Dana White to make it official.

Barao is riding a 29 fight unbeaten streak and has scored three straight victories since joining the UFC one year ago. He is currently slated to face Ivan Menjivar on the UFC 148 card, but moving Barao up to fight Faber and finding a new opponent for Menjivar would be an easy fix.
